How The Hell Do I Get Sponsored?

We asked Lance Webb, the Burton Snowboards representative for Ontario, about getting sponsored. This is what he says:

"The way to get sponsored in snowboarding is to ride your snowboard as much as you can and rule your local mountain (1). The next thing you need to do is enter the contests and get some good results (2). Then approach your local shop and tell them that you would like to ride for their shop and for Burton (3). The shop will then approach me(the representative) to get you sponsored....Remember: Ride every chance you get and rule your local mountain!!"

So, to recap, in order to get sponsored, you'll need to:

  1. Rule your local mountain. This means that you need to create an army of snowboard minions and take control of the mountain. Slay the males, spare the women and children. Rule with and ironfist and destroy all resistance.

  2. Enter contests and get good results. If you ask us, good is just gonna get you maybe there. To keep with the theme of ruling, we say go and get great results. Heck, go and get the best results ever, because you are a powerful individual. Your motivations will lead you to excel and the drive will lead you to great accomplishments . . . join the army.

  3. Approach your local shop and tell them that you would like to ride for their shop and for Burton. Technically you can substitute Burton with your favourite sponsor, I'm sure Lance won't mind us telling you this. The shop will get in contact with the appropriate representative. While asking for sponsorship though, we suggest that you don't eat cheese puffs while talking, it's just disgusting.
